National Workshop on Christian Unity in Omaha
The
2004 National Workshop on Christian Unity took
place from May 10-13 at the Downtown Doubletree
Hotel in Omaha.
The
Keynote speaker for the 2004 National Workshop
in Christian Unity was Martin Marty
, the Fairfax M Cone Distinguished
Service Professor Emeritus at the University
of Chicago (addressing the
Tuesday morning Plenary Session in the above
photo). Bishop Carol Gallagher
was unable to deliver the sermon at the Opening
Worship on the evening of Monday, May 10th,
due to an illness in her family. Bishop
Steven Ullestad (ELCA Bishop of Northern Iowa
Synod, brought the sermon to the opening
worship service in place of Bishop Gallagher.
Dr. William Tabernee, a member of the
World Council of Churches Faith
and Order Commission, was the
Bible Study Leader for the National Workshop.
The Closing Plenary speaker was Bishop
Rymes H. Moncure, Methodist Bishop
of the South Central Jurisdictional Conference.
